“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.” And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worst than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation” Matthew 12:46

I recently heard a message in relation to this passage. The preacher was from India and he was speaking on the Sunday 9 March 2008, the day after our Election when the results have become known.

He has no idea who the key parties or the figures are but he was informed that something very significant has happened in Malaysia - that has never happened before. That the ruling Coalition government lost its 2/3 majority and 5 states were now undergoing a change of government.

Although in its context, the passage talks about what happens when a person who was delivered of an unclean spirit but did not let God take possession of his/her life, the preacher used the passage as an analogy for the state of the government. A seat of authority (such as government office/positions) that were left empty (cleaned up by Election) by a previous (corrupt) officials, is at risk of being taken over by people more corrupt than the previous ones.

Many of us celebrate the removal of office of corrupt government ministers and officers in the state of Selangor and Perak. However, the battle is not over. This week, we have seen how difficult it is to fill and form a cohesive government with people who never governed before in a coalition that was at best thinking of only being opposition.

I urge my readers of all faith to pray for these things:-
1. State government positions be filled by individuals of who have integrity, moral fortitude, capable and who adopt the Barisan Rakyat’s manifesto.
2. Protection over their lives, as they may be targets of assassination and death treats.
3. That they do not succumb to the bribes from the BN coalition to defect (especially in Perak).
4. Peace and harmony in Penang, as I have heard reports that some “people” are instigating racial sentiments for political ends.
5. (just added) Setting up of the Information Command and Control center for Barisan Rakyat (Oppostion Coalition) so that all press information and statements are filtered through before the press gets it. This will avoid the sort of fiasco happening now. (From Reduced & Recycled)

The work of building a government does not happen in a day, a week or even a month. So lets be patient with the new government in Perak, Selangor and Penang - and give them our support in prayer.

PS: I know some cynics don’t believe God has anything to do with what is happening. I can appreciate where they are coming from. It does take faith to see these things and perhaps they have never been touched by the supernatural or miraculous. But i know that even the skeptics and cynics have called the events of recent days, nothing short of miraculous.
