The last one week is very important for Malaysia. Many churches are praying in this week, including my church which have called everyone to a 3 weeks of fasting and prayer. We pray to bring God’s intervention in this land. Even the PAS leaders called their faithful to a special fast for divine intervention. I am certain that many Buddhist and Hindu faithful are also praying.

There are very special days and times in our life. The day you were born is special; or the day you started walking. They are special days to you and to your parents. The day you graduated - is a special day that you remember. We also have our birthday - which we celebrate and remember. Or the day of your marriage.

Even in the Bible, God speaks of the first day and the last day, or the longest day or the longest moon light. We have a leap day on the 29th February, which is a special day added to comply with the moment of the moon and planet.

Many people including Christians are ignorant about the significance of appointed days. It is no coincidence that the election date of the 12th general election is on the 8 March 2008. Although the BN government chose the date, ultimately it is all orchestrated by a divine hand and the significance the date give us hope.

Without elaborating too much, from a study of biblical numbers and symbols, 12 is the number divine government. The number 3 is the number of trinity and the number 8 is the number of new beginnings.

Taken together, 8/3/08 for the 12th General Election means that God’s hand is upon this election and He will ultimately appoints the leaders for a ‘new beginning’ in Malaysia.

Yes, we hear of many incidences of cheating - from strategic placement of postal votes and voters , phantom voters , thousands of hundred year old voters, and the latest cancellation of the indelible ink. We hear reports saying groundswell support of the BN coalition and we hear of the defection of the opposition members. We hear of unfair and inequitable use of the media with TV stations and Astro airing ads only for the BN coalition. We also hear of many predictions - some saying the opposition will deny the BN 2/3 and some saying majority of the young people will not be voting.

Despite all the reports - truth or lies - you hear or read from the BN or the alternative media, we must put our trust in the divine hand of God. Yes, we have to do our part to vote and then pray for safety and peace during this election. But ultimately, God’s hand is in action and that I have hope that whatever the outcome, it is God’s appointed government for a new beginning in Malaysia.

PS: Many of you have asked why the long silence. Due to personal and professional reasons, I have not updated this blog and i will elaborate about this further next time. Suffice to say that all my usual daily rantings I have done elsewhere and my friends will know of the location. And I am certain, if you want to read about political commentaries , complains, disasters and expose - there are plenty of other blogs and online news to fill your appetite.

But this blog, is purely dedicated to given you all a different perspective about what is happening in this nation and I hope it give you hope.
