A brother asked me recently whether I was a communist since I made the remark that certain places in our city is better maintained than others; the expensive or rich people areas appear to be better maintain that the southern regions of the city. For me, it revealed inequality and unfairness.
But that question cum allegation took me by suprise since it reveals more about his understanding (or lack thereof) of the political theories.
I took a few courses in Politics when i was studying in University so i know the various political thoughts. And I am certain that - just because someone does not agree with the way the wealth is current distributed and how wealthy people seems to be given more attention in Malaysia, does not mean one is a communist.
That sort of sparked off some questions in my mind about whether I believe in a democracy and can one believe in democracy as still be a Christian? Isn’t a Christian suppose to believe in a Theocracy?

I find CS Lewis writings on this subject worth reading:
I am a democrat because I believe in the Fall of Man. I think most people are democrats for the opposite reason. A great deal of democratic enthusiasm descends from the ideas of people like Rousseau, who believed in democracy becasue they thought mankind so wise and good that everyone deserved a share of the government.
The danger of defending democracy on those grounds is that they are not true. And whenever their weakness is exposed, the people who prefer tyranny make capital out of the exposure. I find that they’re not true without looking further than myself. I don’t deserve a share in governing a henroost, much less a nation. Nor do most people - all the people who believe advertisements, and think in catchwords and spread rumours.
The real reason for democracy is just the reverse. Mankind is so fallen that no man can be trusted with unchecked power over his fellows…
This introduces a view of equality rather different from that in which we have been trained. I do not think that equality is one of those things (like wisdom or happiness) which are good simply in themselves and for their own sakes.
I think it is in the same class as medicine, which is good because we are ill, or clothes, which are good because we are no longer innocent.. When equality is treated not as a medicine or a safety-gadget but as an ideal, we begin to breed that stunted and envious sort of mind which hates all superiority.
I believe that quote “Mankind is so fallen that no man can be trusted with unchecked power over his fellows” says it all about the state of our nation today.

I totally agree with that, “Mankind is so fallen that no man can be trusted with unchecked power over his fellows.”
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. That’s the reason why we need separation of powers and balance of powers.
