A brief flip-through of today’s newspapers (Star & NST) reveals a shocking 3 teen rape stories! 3 teen rapes in just ONE day! In fact one victim is not even a teen – a 7 year old!What have become of this country! I can’t comprehend the numbers in a week, a month or a year! And the number of lives destroyed!

Today’s other 2 rape stories – Kangar: Man after 9 years in jail, rapes another daughter and JB: 7 year old rape victim lured by sweets.

Convicted father, 56, rapes daughter! Oh how ineffective is our correctional facilities, nor our punishment. Felda-man had 14 rotans and served that 9 years without any repentance! Now we have another life destroyed, her very own daughter for goodness sakes! We are so devoid of common decency! Even monkeys are insulted to be associated to us via evolution, if you belief that crap.

Rape of a 7 year old! Do we need to see a pretty girl’s face/pic in the media (such as that fake Altantuya’s pics) to really get stirred to action with what is happening in Malaysia? Do we need to see gory pics of blood and murder to cause us to speak out and be heard by those in authorities? Will Malaysians ever protest in the streets to all these violence and speak out their fears about the insecurity of this country!?

Star reports that over the last week:-

On Nov 1, two men raped a 13-year-old girl who was jogging in Kampung Gunung Pulai.

On Nov 3, a 15-year-old girl was raped by four men in a car near Taman Cendana in Pasir Gudang.

Three other rape cases were also reported in Pontian.

Rape is not just a women’s problem. It is our problem! We have a very big one now. Nor is rape something that happens to someone else, somewhere else. It happens everywhere, every day, every minute to girls and women of all ages. Family and friends of the victim are also affected. We are all affected: rape is the result of a culture that promotes male dominance and views women as inferior beings.

MYTH: Rape is a sexual crime, impulsively committed by a man for sexual gratification.
FACT: Rape is a crime of violence and aggression. Its intent is to overpower, degrade, and humiliate the victim.

MYTH: Women provoke rape by how they behave, dress, or where they choose to go. Rape is the victim’s fault.
FACT: Rape is never the victim’s fault. If a woman wants to be involved sexually with a man, it would not be necessary for him to use force or threats of physical violence. Research shows that rapists look for available women they perceive as vulnerable.

Dont be surprised that some idiot will come out and say that our newspapers are not helping our fears by reporting too much on rape. Dont be surprise that you will soon hear some dumbwit politians saying “more CCTV”, “more police patrol” to gather some selfish political mileage over this sad scenario without really any concrete action. Dont be surprised to hear that some stupid religious people say that it is because the victims are dressed to sexy (7 year old, sexy?) or reveal too much skin like exposed meat.

Thats the bigger problem, isn’t it? People who blames the media for the fears, and the rape on the victim rather examining their own minds, their own perceptions and their own lust.
