We know the gory details, we have seen the pictures and we have been sicken. Now it is confirmed that the pretty little 8 year old Nurin was the body in the bag in Petaling Jaya. That is if you believe our Police do have proper DNA testing facilities. Some doubts remain, as expected.

The eight-year-old girl went missing on Aug 20 after going to a night market near her house in the Wangsa Maju. On her own!

We all feel for the parents, even though as parents they should know better not to let her go alone. The guilt, condemnation and regret felt by the parents can eat them up for the rest of their lives. God have mercy.

And God only knows what sort of ordeal little Nurin went tru when she was raped, tortured and murdered.

The tabloids called these murderers - beasts. The nation expresses anger and shock and called for swift capture. We call them beasts - we call them monsters. Are they the only ones in Malaysia?

Will the police be swift and bring the real beasts to book? Don’t you wish our nation have a body like the FBI Behavioural Analysis Unit (BAU) ala Criminal Minds? Or a team of CSI. Isn’t this what we expect our government to have? A few elite team of investigators that have the brains, technology and the passion to solve crimes. Were the millions spent on equipment upgrades includes spending on a state of the art lab for forensic tests? I wonder.

So who is to say that Nurin and the few reported child murders were the only ones missing, murdered and mutilated? Usually those reported are only a fraction of what REALLY happened. That means more serious crimes were committed, but only some come to light.

Who are the real monsters in Malaysia? Isn’t the real question what has become of our law enforcement that criminals find it easy to make a kill in Malaysia? Someone told me the other day, “The government must somehow be responsible for the state of fear we are living in now, right? Isn’t it negligence?” I couldn’t agree more.

Who are the real Monsters in Malaysia? We shouldn’t just point to the killers. Remember who allowed them to freely roam. Think not just these murderers, think of the stalkers, road bullies, muggers. Think of the rapists who were never caught and victims who felt to embarrassed to report. Think of the father who commits incest but were never reported by the child because of fear.

The next could be a child you know. Who are you going to blame?

As another blogger wrote:

But that how long will hearts remain stirred? This isn’t the first child to have been murdered so tragically, neither is she the first missing child to have such a fate – it isn’t a first of anything. Children, women boys will continue to be raped and sodomised coz no action is taken, reactions to such incidents never turn into solid actions, the penalty for sexual offence will never be raised, we will continue to discuss this issue till the next hot issue resurfaces and before we know it Nurin will be a distant memory and yesterdays news.

Actually she’s already yesterdays news, for the next 2 weeks or so, we will have people talking about this, commenting on it , being shocked about it, we will have promises of better rules, better security, or better laws but in more or less 2 weeks everything will be forgotten.

Will she be forgotten news?
Think. Malaysians have very short memory.
Think. Why we keep voting the same Monsters to power.
Who are the real Monsters in Malaysia?
